Dekorra Lutheran Church Technology Committee

 Mission Statement: The mission of the Technology committee is to embrace,
support, and manage technology so that the church can help, serve, teach,
witness, inspire, and motivate others to faith.

 Vision: There are many ways that technology can be used to further the church’s mission.  The Technology committee will fulfill its mission by providing a website that will provide information for the congregation and to prospective church members and provide inspiration and learning opportunities among other things.  The technology committee will also provide needed services for maintaining audio and visual equipment that can be used by church members in pursuit of their goals and missions.

 Scope:  the scope of the Technology Committee is to consider all technologies of the church.  That would include computers, audio/visual equipment, speaker systems, VCR/DVD, video recorders, and even things as simple as programmable thermostats. 

 Goals:  the goals of the Technology Committee fall into two categories, one is to maintain and implement technology for the church and the second is to explore new ways for the church to leverage technology to further the church’s mission.

 Maintaining and implementing technology for the church includes the following:

•  Maintaining the audio system so that services, presentations and performances can be heard by the congregation, including those with special hearing needs
• Maintaining a video system that will include VHS, VCR, DVD, CD, projection and other forms of visual presentations.  These should be made available to the congregation, committees etc.
• Maintaining the computer systems of the church so that the church’s work can be done.
• Implement appropriate technology as approved by the clergy, committees, church council and congregation.
• Recruit members with technical skills to help maintain the systems
• Train and expose the youth to technology (and learn from them also!) 

Research & Development

• Continue to research ways to implement technology that will benefit the church
• Recruit members with technical skills to explore new ways to take advantage of those skills and technical improvements
• Explore ways that technology can help committees attain their goals.
