The Stewardship Committee is looking for a new team member to help count the weekly offering. Our team consists of four, two-person teams, that are scheduled to count once every four weeks, with additional times scheduled during Lent, Easter, Christmas, etc., when we have additional services. You would work with your partner to count the offering after service, reconcile the deposit and drop the deposit off at the HomeTown Bank in Poynette or Harmony Grove. If you would be interested in joining our team, contact Sharon Kampen at 608-635-4745 or kampensg@yahoo.com. National Youth Gathering Meeting Every three years, 30,000 youth entering 8th-12th grades and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA National Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service, and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. The next youth gathering is July 2022 in Minneapolis, MN. The theme is “Boundless – God Beyond Measure”. The Youth and Family Committee is energized to make this opportunity available to Dekorra’s youth and we already have a core of families committed. Are you interested in being involved as a participating young adult or as a leader? Do you know someone who should be involved, whether or not they are a member here or not? Find out if this is something for you, by attending an information session hosted by the Youth and Family Committee and Pastor Sterling on Sunday, July 25th right after worship. You can also poke around the gathering website before the meeting: https://www.elca.org/YouthGathering/. The Worship Committee is looking for your help during our worship service. Anyone interested in serving as a Worship Assistant, Lay Reader, Communion Assistant, Greeter, and/or Usher, please contact one of our committee members. We will be conducting training sessions on Wednesday, August 11th at 6:30 p.m. or Sunday, August 15th after service for anyone interested in becoming a Worship Helper. Return of All Committee Night – Starting Tuesday, September 14th at 6:30 pm The council president asks that committees set one of their meeting times to “All Committee” night, beginning on Tuesday, September 14th at 6:30 pm. The plan is to continue All Committee Night on the second Tuesdays of the month after that date. If your committee chooses to meet on a different date/time, then you are asked to send a representative to All Committee Night. Right now, the committees are the most robust vehicles for mission and ministry in our congregation. Council will continue to meet on the second Thursdays of the month to act on recommendations and requests from the committees. Looking for a Young Adult to Represent the Whole Church The ELCA congregations in our area have been asked to recruit a confirmed (and non-rostered) member of the church who will be aged 18-31 during the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in 2022. It will happen from August 8 -12 in Columbus, OH. The Churchwide Assembly is the top decision-making body of our confession. Current information on the assembly can be found here: https://www.elca.org/churchwideassembly. Please email Pastor Sterling at PastorSterling@centurytel.net or call the church office if you are interested. You should do this! Sunday Mornings for Kids – July 18th till August 1st. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel Vacation Bible School for this year. In place of our canceled VBS, we will be having three special Sunday mornings for K-5 kids this summer! The theme will be “3 in 1 – Father, Son, Holy Spirit”. Week one will be July 18th and focus on God the Father. Week two will be July 25th and focus on God the Son. Week three will be August 1st and focus on God the Holy Spirit. Kids will gather downstairs at 10am, right at the start of worship. The kids will join the community right after the sermon, and the pastor will have a special message for them at that time. Sermon Series on the Fourth Gospel – Sundays at Worship, April 25th – July 11th We are going to take a break from the usual schedule of readings. Instead, we are going to do something special and ambitious; over the next three months we are going to attempt to have an experience of Christ through the signs, explanations, and complete narratives in the story of Jesus we call “John”. You will likely notice that our typical tiny samples from many books each Sunday have been replaced with abundant stories from John’s Gospel. The aim is to experience the entire Gospel, from the first verse of the first chapter to the last verse of the last chapter.
