Weekly View From Da Pews July 09, 2021 `Repentance is a Decision! Perhaps you do not understand that God is kind to you, so you will change your hearts and lives. Romans 2:4 No one is happier than the one who has sincerely repented of wrong. Repentance is the decision to turn from selfish desires and seek God. It is a genuine, sincere regret that creates sorrow and moves us to admit wrong and a desire to do better. It’s an inward conviction that expresses itself in outward actions. You look at the love of God and you can’t believe he’s loved you like he has, and this realization motivates you to change your life. That is the nature of repentance. (From “Walking With The Savior” by Max Lucado) From a personal perspective, I can testify that life does get much better when one has repented. Last evening was the monthly Dekorra council meeting and one of many items on the agenda was Covid-19 and our reopening of the sanctuary. Because there are reports that the Covid Delta variant is becoming more widespread and is a much more deadly strain of the virus, we should exercise renewed restraint with our inside worship. As the leadership group of Dekorra we will be monitoring the situation on a weekly basis and if we feel there is a need to again “mask up” and stop the singing or even do more drastic measures, be assured that we will take all necessary steps to keep our congregation safe as we gather to worship the Lord. A message from Sheila Gempeler: At yesterday's meeting, I shared news about Pat. Her spine is in bad shape, with additional fractures. She is in a lot of pain. She must wear a heavy and restrictive brace whenever she is upright. She is living with her son Dan in Lodi. She only goes out for Dr. Appointments. Some of you indicated that you would like to send her a card, so I got her address. She was excited to hear we would be sending cards. Please also keep her in your prayers. Patti Geeslin 87 Strangeway Apt 5 Lodi WI 53555 Another message from Sheila: Sheila Gempeler Tue, Jul 6, 9:29 AM (3 days ago) to Diane, me Bill and Bill, In place of our canceled VBS, I am working on 3 summer Sunday mornings for kids who have completed 4K through 5th. The theme will be “3 in 1, Father, Son, Holy Spirit”. Week one, July 18 will focus on God the Father, week two, July 25 on God the Son and week three, Aug 1 on The Holy Spirit. There will be songs, activities and discussions. This will be one group sessions so we will not meet in individual classrooms. Kids will gather downstairs prior to church at 10AM, and will join parents in church after Pastor’s sermon. Pastor will have a children’s sermon at that time. Mr. Schleichert would you add this to your weekly news from now through Aug 1, please. We hope to welcome families back to church during these weeks!! Sheila Bill Buckley and I will be going to the bank this afternoon to sign the loan papers for the new audio/visual system. I pray that this congregation will step up their offerings in order to pay for this upgrade. Right now we are falling behind by about $2000 each month. I know that it is summer and attendance is down, however you could still mail in your offering or even better sign up for auto giving. Habitat is off and pounding in Baraboo. We worked yesterday on the foundation and next week we will be installing the floor trusses and decking. All are welcome to come and help. Call me for details and location info. Mark your calendars for August 22nd. That is the date of the Dekorra Church picnic. It will follow the 10am worship service. There will be a surprise entertainment, lots of good food and good fellowship. That’s all for today, hope to see you all on Sunday. William, a Disciple of Christ Christianity, in its purest form, is nothing more than seeing Jesus. Christian service, in its purest form, is nothing more than imitating Him who we see. To see His Majesty and to imitate Him, that is the sum of Christianity! williamaschleichert@gmail.com 608-697-4434(c)
